Help fight the General Assembly chill
Global Ministry Center
Thursday, January 8, 2009
You might be thinking to yourself, "Isn't General Assembly in Orlando&in the summer?  Who could possibly be chilly?" The answer is: many of the international delegates. The majority of Nazarenes who attend General Assembly and Conventions from countries outside the U.S. are not accustomed to air conditioning and, as a result, remain very uncomfortable throughout the meetings and services due to the chilly temperatures maintained in the convention halls.

Whether you are planning to attend the 27th General Assembly and Conventions or not, your help is needed to collect new or like-new shawls. These will be given to the international guests to use while in Orlando to keep warm in the convention center.

The goal is to collect 400-500 pieces, which means everyone needs to chip in to gather enough. This would be a great project for a Sunday School class, a youth group, or an entire congregation to participate in. At the same time, no donation is too small. If you knit or crochet, a homemade shawl would be perfect.

Please send each shawl individually packaged in a 2-gallon Ziploc bag for easy distribution. Donations should be sent to:

Please send any questions to ga2009@nazarene.org. Thank you in advance for your help with this much-needed project.
