Adult Ministries awarded Servant Leadership Awards to seven individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service in the areas of Adult Ministries, Prime Time Ministries, Single Adult Ministries, Men's Ministries, Women's Ministries, Family Life Ministries, and Continuing Lay Training (CLT).
David Graves, Sunday School Ministries director, and Larry Morris, Adult Ministries director, extended personal congratulations to each recipient. The awards, “Do As I Have Done," from the Christian Home Gallery collection by Scott Stearman, depict Jesus with a towel and basin.
Charles Bledsoe, Prime Time director on the Eastern Michigan district, was honored for his innovative leadership. The Prime Time Work and Witness Blitz for 2006 is an example of that creativity.
Joe Brown, Adult Ministries director on the Central Ohio district, was honored for his effective and enthusiastic ministry to adults. He has served as director of Adult Ministries since the district was formed in 1975. Brown was unable to attend Thursday's ceremony due to a family emergency. He will receive his award at a later date.
Dan and Kay Croy were honored for their work with Family Life Ministries. Their leadership in marriage enrichment with the Church of the Nazarene has positively influenced families for over two decades.
Gene Dougherty, Men's Ministries director for the North Florida district, was honored for his work with men of all nationalities, races, and backgrounds. His heart's desire is to influence men to be examples of Christ in their sphere of influence.
Aletha Hinthorn was honored for her compassion and efforts to evangelize and disciple women. Her books, Bible studies, and Women Alive! magazine are an inspiration and a clear call to holiness of life.
Keith Megehee was honored for his ministry to single adults. He serves on the SoloCon Board of Directors and as the director for SoloCon South has led that event to continual growth in numbers and quality of program.
Donovan Sanquist, Continuing Lay Training director for the South Carolina district, was honored for his commitment and service to the CLT program. He has worked tirelessly on the district and local level promoting the teaching and training of Sunday School workers.
In addition to Morris, Coordinators Linda Hardin of Single Adult and Women's Ministries, James Pettitt of Men's and Family Life Ministries, and Derl Keefer of Prime Time Ministries presented the awards at a breakfast June 23 in the Indianapolis Convention Center.
