Worldwide, the Church of the Nazarene reported over 17,000 congregations in 2004. At the same time, the denomination reported 25,147 ministers. In 2004, there were

• 14,069 ordained elders worldwide
• 593 ordained deacons worldwide
• 6,889 district-licensed ministers worldwide

In addition, there were 3,596 locally licensed ministers in Canada and the U.S. (Not all world areas reported numbers of local ministers.) These ministers were most often serving as pastors, but there are other common assignments for active ministers as well:

• 12,407 pastors
• 2,095 associate ministers
• 280 chaplains
• 260 evangelists and song evangelists
• 215 in education

(Only the pastoral assignment is reported in most world areas; other numbers are for Canada and the U.S. only.)
