Centennial Corner: John and Frances Snowden
John and Frances Snowden were members of the John 3:16 mission, which became Spokane First Church of the Nazarene in 1902. The couple was active in the life of the young church, serving in multiple capacities. Their daughter Ruth was born in 1919. Ruth, the church pianist, married Walter Keller. Carol was the oldest of their three children. Carol, born in 1937, followed her mother's lead serving as the church's pianist and also directed the choir. Her marriage to Kenneth Fuller produced two children including son Kenneth. Kenneth, representing the fourth generation, was active in the church through music and served on the church board. He and his wife, Nancy, had two daughters, Krista and Amber. Amber and her husband, Ryan Hill, have been involved in the church in recent years by working with children, youth, and the young married group. Their daughter, Morgan, was born in 2003. Morgan Hill represents the sixth generation of the roots planted by her great-great-great-grandparents, John and Frances Snowden. As the year 2008 approaches, stories of the Church of the Nazarene will be told through descriptions of anniversaries and milestones reflecting on the church's centennial moments. Ultimately, these accounts reflect the stories of people, such as the Snowdens, Kellers, Fullers, and Hills who served God and the church, sharing their talents and treasures with the next generation in mind.
