Connecting With: Generous Living
The Nazarene family is spread around the globe with diverse traditions, worship styles, and ministries but we share a common heart—and increasing numbers of Nazarenes are living generously! The Church of the Nazarene Foundation (CNF) helps Nazarenes fulfill their desire to provide for their families and support ministries of their choice through planned and deferred giving. God's people are utilizing CNF to link their vision with ministry through gift planning in various ways.
  • Local church ministry endowments.
  • Child sponsorship endowments.
  • Scholarship funds for teens from a local church.
  • Family giving programs by use of donor advised funds. These funds operate as a family foundation and can involve the entire family in the gifting process.
  • Immediate ministry funding through gifts of real estate, stocks, mutual funds, land, apartment buildings, oil and gas leases, and other non-cash assets.
  • Future ministry funding for local, district, regional, global ministries, and educational institutions through charitable trusts, charitable gift annuities, and estate plan bequests.
  • Enhancement of the investment options for local churches, districts, and other Nazarene ministries using investment management accounts.
CNF meets the needs of generous Nazarenes all over the U.S. The Foundation is able to facilitate structured cash gifts and non-cash gifts by educating people about various gift-planning options. Planned giving not only blesses future generations but it also has rewarding personal benefits such as:
  • Increased income
  • Lower income taxes
  • Bypass of capital gains tax
If you would like more information about the various planned giving opportunities available to accomplish your vision for ministry, please visit the Foundation's web site, www.nazarenefoundation.org, where you will find donor stories, explanations of planned giving tools, tax saving advice, and other useful information. While there, sign up for a free weekly E-mail newsletter that is full of valuable information and ideas. CNF may also be contacted directly at this toll-free number, 866-273-2549, with any questions. Finally, as the denomination approaches its Centennial Celebration in October 2008, individuals have the opportunity to become Nazarene Legacy Partners. A Nazarene Legacy Partner is anyone who has remembered a Nazarene ministry of any kind with a future gift commitment or has funded an endowment for a Nazarene ministry. Notify CNF about your gift and you will receive a small gift of thanks and have your name added to a commemorative list of charter Nazarene Legacy Partners. —Church of the Nazarene Foundation: Linking Vision With Ministry Through Gift Planning Holiness Today, May/June 2008
