In a move to improve decision-making and continuity within the International Headquarters and the future Global Ministry Center, the Board of General Superintendents announced that effective March 1, 2008, the Board chair will serve as jurisdictional general superintendent for all of International Headquarters in Kansas City. "I am looking forward to the new assignment. It is a significant move and gives us opportunity for a more cohesive approach to our work at International Headquarters," said Jesse C. Middendorf, the new Board chair. "There is a new level of collaboration and cooperation already underway, and the Board of General Superintendents is intent on helping our new Global Ministry Center function more effectively and efficiently," Middendorf added. David P. Wilson, General Secretary and Headquarters Operations Officer, responded to the news: "On behalf of the Global Ministry Team at International Headquarters, I want to express our support and appreciation for this action by the Board of General Superintendents. We believe that having one jurisdictional general superintendent will serve to further strengthen working relationships within our operations and throughout the church." Release time for the Board chair from other jurisdictional assignments will be provided by each general superintendent taking on additional responsibilities as necessary. The current jurisdictional arrangements for all Phase 3 districts worldwide will remain in place. Each general superintendent will continue with a jurisdictional assignment for the six regions in World Mission. This decision by the Board is part of an extensive review of operations and structure of all General Board departments at International Headquarters. GLOBAL MINISTRY CENTER UPDATE Construction is well underway on the new Global Ministry Center for the Church of the Nazarene. This project will lead to the relocation of the denomination's administrative hub from Kansas City, Missouri, to nearby Lenexa, Kansas. Completion of the building and occupancy are planned to work in conjunction with the denomination's centennial for October 2008.
