When we think about the theological interpretation of Scripture we also must remember the theological implications of translation. The very act of translating the Bible is an act of interpreting it. Translations (and paraphrases) made by individuals bear the theological prejudices of those individuals. Translations done by committees whose membership is tightly controlled by required theological affirmations will reflect the biases of those theological requirements. A careful student of Scripture who cannot work in the original languages should be aware of the theological bias of the translation(s) with which he or she works.
