Connecting With: A Culture of Marriage

A Culture of Marriage Have we moved away from a marriage culture in our churches? Research from the last two decades tells us that young people are marrying less, cohabiting more, divorcing more, and unhappier with their relationships. Here are some strategies we can employ in the local church to combat this trend:

• Teach. Pastors and teachers can make the biblical concept of marriage as a permanent, God-centered, covenant for life a central part of their preaching and teaching. Over the years, perhaps in trying to be sensitive to those whose marriages have failed, we have left it to the world to define marriage for us.
