Compassion in December
December is compassionate ministries month. Churches and individuals are encouraged to emphasize compassion as a lifestyle through giving to and participating in compassionate ministries. Every year, Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) focuses giving through the designation of a Christmas Project. This year the project is Child Development Centers. NCM's Child Development Centers provide nutritious meals, educational opportunities, and vocational training to children around the world. Donations can be made to the centers, or by sponsoring a child enrolled in one of them. The needs are great, as there are currently 1,200 children waiting for sponsors in the Nazarene Child Sponsorship program. Some helpful resources are available from NCM to assist churches in highlighting compassion as a lifestyle in December. The Giving Calendar describes needs in the world and suggests practical steps families and individuals can take to identify with those needs every day. "NCM in a Box" is a kit containing brochures, informational booklets, a magazine, and a poster for use in the local church. These resources are available free of charge. To order resources and find out more about the NCM Christmas Project and Child Sponsorship, visit {www.ncm.org}, or call 1-877-626-4145. To donate to the NCM Christmas Project, make your check payable to the General Treasurer and mark "ACS1042" on the memo line. Checks should be sent to the General Treasurer, 6401 The Paseo, Kansas City, MO 64131. Holiness Today, November/December 2005
