NYI's Hartke Says NYI More Global Than Ever
Indianapolis
Reflecting on the moments just before opening their convention, Nazarene Youth International (NYI) Director Gary Hartke says, NYI is truly a global entity serving the youth of the International Church of the Nazarene. With 21 Global Council members, NYI anticipates a grand celebration service to kick off their convention June 22. Hartke stated, "We're going to launch our quadrennial theme in our opening service. To help us connect with the youth of our world, Pastor Geraldo Nunes of Campinas, Brazil, himself a youth pastor, will be speaking. Nunes' congregation of more than 1,000 teens and youth is estimated to be the largest youth ministry in the Church of the Nazarene anywhere in the world."
Hartke continued, "Our convention will consider a bold initiative to permit electronic voting in youth conventions so that all delegates can participate in such an event regardless of their location." Clearly NYI is preparing to explore the cutting edge technology brings to the mission and ministry of the church.
