Cymbala addresses NMI prayer brunch
Indianapolis
Jim Cymbala, senior pastor of Brooklyn Tabernacle Church in New York, addressed the approximately 1,300 attendees of the Nazarene Missions International (NMI) Prayer Brunch on Tuesday, June 22, in Indianapolis.
Attendees included NMI delegates and special guests from around the world. They were challenged by Cymbala's message on the need for a connection with God that is not based on human emotionalism, but on spiritual fervency. This fervency is reached through a consistent, meaningful prayer life.
Nina Gunter, general NMI director, shared, “He helped us to be more intentional in relying on the Holy Spirit to work in us when we pray."
Brooklyn Tabernacle Church, which started in 1972 with a handful of members, has grown to a congregation of several thousand under Cymbala's ministry. Cymbala's wife, Carol, directs the Grammy Award winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.
The Cymbalas have seen several new churches grow out of their congregation. Most prominent in this ongoing revival and expansion process has been the Tuesday Night Prayer Service, attended by nearly 2,000 people. Also, the church's All-Night Prayer Ministry has proven to be an effective means of connecting people to the vital importance of prayer.
Christians around the world have been touched by Cymbala's books, Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire; Fresh Faith; Fresh Power.
Prayer ministry is an integral part of NMI.
