According to Indianapolis WISH-TV, the city's largest convention of the year started Wednesday. With an anticipated 40,000 people attending, General Assembly's impact on the city is significant. The convention pumps roughly $40 million (U.S.) into the city's economy. The gathering draws representation from around the world to ratify resolutions, vote for new leaders, all amid the context of worship, camaraderie, and fellowship.

The Indianapolis Convention and Visitors Association (ICVA) handled hotel reservations for church attendees, filling downtown hotels, as well as other locations beyond the city center.

Referencing the economic impact General Assembly events make on the city, Bob Schultz, ICVA said, “That money is spent on hotels, and in restaurants, and transportation and shuttling. It's money they leave behind and we thank them for that and we welcome them. This demonstrates why we are such a strong international convention destination."
