Also, COICOM, a Latin American organization of Christian communicators, held its annual event, COICOM-Peru, July 1-3 in Lima, Peru. World Mission Broadcast (WMB) South America participated in the event, which drew more than 1,000 Christian communicators from Peru. An additional 25 radio stations (mostly from the interior of Peru) were added to the list of affiliates airing the WMB South America Region (SAM) programs. Peru radio partner Gustavo Perales, Sosa, Eunice Antón, host of "Impact Junín" in Huancayo, Peru, and WMB SAM team member Marcelo Fretes, joined regional Broadcast Coordinator Brian Utter at the event. Fretes delivered a presentation to the members of COICOM on the ministry of the Church of the Nazarene, while Radio del Pacifico and Radio La Luz, the two largest Christian radio stations in Lima, interviewed Utter. Utter was also invited by COICOM to present workshops during the COICOM international conference to be held in Guatemala this September. |

Brazil Nazarene University: One step nearer reality |

Lambert added, "The global Church of the Nazarene looks forward to having a great Portuguese language, liberal arts university in Brazil as a partner in the global system of Nazarene education."
In an interesting sidelight, Lambert also noted that, "The Church of the Nazarene celebrated its 50th anniversary by opening a new work in Brazil. Now, Brazilian Nazarenes will help the Church of the Nazarene celebrate its centennial by founding our first Portuguese language university." --IBOE and NCN News |

Utter, who is in the process of returning to South America after a short furlough in the USA, has kept in close contact with the growing radio network he and his team have established in recent years. Brian reported he received an E-mail from HCJB, one of the world's largest radio broadcasters, that their satellite network, ALAS, confirmed 125 affiliates are airing World Mission Broadcast (WMB) radio programs. Another E-mail arrived soon after saying 48 more stations were lined up to air WMB programs. |

A group of 37 people from the USA and Canada traveled to Brazil from March 1-9, 2004. The participants and spouses represented 18 districts as well as the general NMI council and the general NMI office. The hosts were Bob and Frances Collins, former missionaries to Brazil. |
